Twynam produces a vast array of agricultural produce.
Our core philosophy is to tailor produce to local and international demand, thus the key to our success is to be able to supply this in large volumes with consistent high quality. Accordingly we remain flexible to market signals and take a co-operative approach in the commercialisation of new products.
Our core livestock enterprises are our Black Angus cattle stud at Jemalong and our Mungadal Merino stud. Our cattle progeny are targeted to the Japanese Ox market and our Merino sheep produce 21 micron wool, which is held in high regard worldwide.
We also run a first cross Wagyu enterprise with Wagyu cross Angus steers shipped to Japan as well as producing Poll Dorset cross Merino lambs for the domestic meat market.
In times of good water availability Twynam produces cotton within the Gwydir, Macquarie, Lower Lachlan and Murrumbidgee Valleys. Australian cotton quality is held in high regard throughout the world where Twynam markets both Upland (conventional) and Pima (Extra Long Staple) through Queensland Cotton.
Rice is also grown on our Riverina holdings and marketed through Sunrice, based in Leeton.
Our primary winter crops are bread and durum (noodle) wheat, which we market domestically for export by accredited exporters or box for export ourselves. Wheat is grown in rotation with legume crops and non genetically modified (conventional) canola.
Our first foray into horticulture has been the establishment of a 216 hectare citrus orchard at Jemalong (Forbes) with orange production targeted at the rapidly expanding domestic premium fresh juice sector.
